Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 47th president of the United States. The Republican magnate begins his second term. The president used Abraham Lincoln’s Bible for the swearing-in, it is the same Bible Lincoln used during his inauguration ceremony in 1861.

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath to Trump.

The ceremony was held, for the first time in 40 years, inside the Capitol and not on its steps as is traditional due to the low temperatures outside.

“America’s golden age begins right now,” Donald Trump declared during his speech. Furthermore, the new American president has promised that his country will once again be respected around the world. We will be the envy of all nations and we will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of each and every day of the Trump administration, he asserted.

James David Vance (born James Donald Bowman) was sworn in as vice president surrounded by his family. Unlike the president, the vice president’s oath is not specified in the Constitution. Instead, it was created by Congress and appears in the United States Code. It is also the same oath taken by other federal officials, including lawmakers.

This is what Vance will say: “I solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will have true faith and loyalty to him; that I assume this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office I am about to assume. May God help me.”
