Diplomat Manuel Freire-Garabal will have February 16th as his official day in the US
Prof. Sir Manuel Freire-Garabal y Núñez will receive the Proclamation from the City of North Miami Beach through a public announcement and solemnly ratified by Mayor Anthony F. DeFillippo marking February 16 as his official day for the city.
He obtains the Proclamation for his contributions to American society with the ambassador of nature and human rights, Dr. Luis Suárez for his constant support during the COVID-19 crisis through donations in the city of North Miami Beach and Florida. He has received the Kentucky Colonel and Arkansas Traveler honors in the past year for his contributions to America’s progress and outstanding service. These titles are awarded as the highest civil honor to an alien by the Governors and Secretaries of State of Kentucky and Arkansas.
Among other important civil honors, he has received honors from members of the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Russian Imperial House, or the Russian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Military Mission and Society for the Development of Russian Historical Consciousness “Two-headed Eagle” and from other cities such as the District Municipality of Machu Picchu or the City of Medley.
In 2017, he began working in food aid for children in India, Africa and Iraq and assisting in education in Brazil and Iraq. For his work with children he was recognized by some entities in the public and private sectors. He has contributed greatly to education with Al-Khalifa Business School, with open education programs giving away more than 300,000 scholarships to everyone in 2020.
He has received the 2019 Books of Peace award from UNESCO and FUNVIC for his humanitarian aid and his long career in diplomacy. For his philanthropic work he was awarded by the National Centers for Internally Displaced Persons of Iraq and by PALEDEC, including him in the 100 Pan African Change-Makers of 2020 for his contributions to the development of education in Africa.
As a diplomat, Prof. Freire-Garabal serves as Special Envoy of the Presidency of the Republic of Madagascar (chaired by H.E. Andry Rajoelina) and is a personal advisor to the former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and former Prime Minister of Guinea, H.E. Lansana Kouyaté, among other positions. In his duties as Special Envoy of the Emerging Program integrated in the General Directorate of Presidential Projects he pursues the economic and social development of the Government of Madagascar.
S.E. Prof. Sir Manuel Freire-Garabal and Núñez HOKC, LLB, MBA, PhDH, FRAS, FRSA, FRAI, MRSAI graduated in Law from the University of A Coruña and in Journalism from the National Association of Cuban Journalists in Exile. He has an MBA in “International Construction Management” from the European University of Madrid and has completed more than 300 courses and specializations in business, administration, health or safety from IVY League universities and top-level European business schools. He also received two Doctor Honoris Causa degrees in the field of diplomacy.
He began in the university world with Professor Domingo Bello Janeiro of the University of La Coruña in legal research. Currently, he is a professor and advisor at various universities in Asia and the Pacific. Since 2019 he has given conferences and participated in events at the Davos World Economic Forum and at universities such as MIT, Harvard, Oxford or New York University and is an elected member of Spanish and American academies, fellow of entities such as the Royal Asiatic Society, Royal Society of Arts and Royal Anthropological Institute; an elected member of the Royal Society of Saint George in the United Kingdom and an elected member of the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland. He has been noted for his invitations to collaborate in media at Harvard, Yale, Berkeley, MSNBC, Microsoft, Le Figaro, Le Monde, and as a regular contributor to The Economic Times and The Times of India.
