In the preview of the JW Marriott Miraflores Hotel, Lima, Mayor Luis Miguel Alvarado Sepúlveda – District Municipality of Yantalo, Moyobamba / San Martin, recognized Ambassador Luis Suarez Hernandez with the key to the city of Yantalo and named him Illustrious Guest by decree of the municipal council.

The Yantalo District is one of the six districts of the Moyobamba province in Peru.

Yantalo is a “Quechua” word that means “firewood carrier.” Starting today the “Yantinos” walk to the forest every day to collect dry firewood. They cut each piece of almost equal size, group them together and carry the wood on their backs, usually tied with a cloth around their forehead. The main use is for fire/cooking.
